Sr Software Engineer / Lead (Scala)

Job Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled Sr Software Engineer / Lead (Scala) for a hybrid role in Bangalore. The candidate should have strong expertise in Scala and functional programming, with hands-on experience in Python, Kubernetes, and AWS. The ideal candidate will design and develop scalable distributed systems and contribute to large-scale data processing workflows.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain high-performance, scalable distributed systems using Scala and Python.
• Build, deploy, and operate services at scale using Kubernetes and AWS (EKS, EMR, S3).
• Develop and optimize algorithms for data storage, retrieval, and processing at scale.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define, design, and deliver new features.
• Optimize and refactor existing applications for performance, reliability, and scalability.
• Ensure code quality through unit testing, integration testing, and code reviews.
• Troubleshoot and resolve complex production and non-production issues.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of software development experience.
• Strong expertise in Scala with solid understanding of functional programming principles.
• Proficiency in Python for backend and data processing workflows.
• Familiarity with Apache Spark for large-scale data processing (deep expertise not mandatory).
• Experience with Kubernetes and AWS (EKS, EMR, S3).
• Solid understanding of distributed systems and data architecture.
• Experience building RESTful web services in Java, Scala, or Python.
• Proficiency with Git and CI/CD pipelines.
• Preferred: Exposure to computer vision or GenAI workflows.
• Preferred: Familiarity with Kafka, Parquet, ORC, and containerization tools like Docker.
